Croatia: 4 to 5 days in September
My wife and i (young mid 60's) are planning to visit Croatia in the 2nd or 3rd week of September for a period of 4 to 5 days. Our daughter, son-in-law and 2 small children will be with us. We will be arriving from Munich, via air (where they live). We would look to rent a car(s). At the end of our stay, they will be returning to Munich while my wife and i will likely head to Lake Como in Italy to finish off our trip.
Given the time constraint, and the fact that we will have two small children with us, we feel we are somewhat limited in what we might do/see. We would consider one move if that was recommended to see more of Croatia. Our original thought was to make Split our home base and make trips from there - Hvar and possibly even Dubrovnik. We are drawn towards the coast/water, smaller towns and villages, good food and wine. Having said that, it appears that Dubrovnik is a must see. So, questions are: Do we stay in 1 location or should we open to 2? Under either scenaria, which cities, towns or regions would you recommend for us to stay at/use as a base? What are the "must-sees"? Is a ferry ride/island trip recommended? Any other things for us to consider?
Any suggestions/recommendations would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards, Rob
