What's the best way to get around Dubai?

by ksilver »

I've read mixed reviews. On the one hand, a car seems easier. On the other, I worry about breaking a law that maybe I wasn't aware of. Are taxis prevalant/affordable?

Taxis are cheap and plentiful in Dubai. However doublecheck to make sure the driver is familiar with the destination before taking the cab.

Women should not ride in the front passenger seat.

From a public transit point of view the Dubai metro is a nice beginning and it will become more relevant/useful as a transportation choice as the system increases. At present it provides an excellent choice to get having access to Sheikh Zayed Road and neat places to see as you head towards Abu Dhabi (i.e., Shopping center of the Emirates, Ibin Batu Shopping center, Dubai Harbour, The Hand, etc.). The costs are inexpensive, but it can be a task getting a cab at some of the less popular stops.

Hi,

I might be kinda late for the discussion, but still any advice ads up to the value. I myself have rented a car in Dubai and the procedure is much easy than it seems. If you rent from a reputed car rental service provider like hertz , 80% of your problems are solved. You can ask them for quick guidances and laws as they themselves ensure that you are capable of driving or not, especially in a city like  Dubai. If not a car then go in for metro. Taxis can be expensive.

I think Dubai Metro public transit is the cheapest mode of transportation in Dubai. Most of Dubai gets covered by this. You can also visit City Centre Deira. The City Centre Deira Metro Station is on the red line of the Dubai Metro. It is conveniently located and is just a few steps away from the mall. http://www.citycentredeira.com

There are multiple options in Dubai for travelling.

Taxis

A trip across town shouldn't set you back any more than 40-50 dirhams.

Metro

The only issue is that it's mainly aimed at residents, and - aside from malls like city centre mirdif - doesn't really link up the main tourist spots.

Buses

There is a well-serviced bus network, but it's rarely used by tourists.

Without wanting to totally dismiss a much-used form of public transport, I'd advise visitors to use the Dubai Metro or taxis to get around.

Hello. For those who can afford and want to spent a wonderful time in Dubai, i can advise a car rent, so called "Cargets" in Dubai. It is expensive, it is true, but you would not worry about transportation all time. While I have been visitinng Dubai last December before Christmas , a have ordred an elite-car for my purpose, it is really very comfortable. If you need just post in web  "Cargets - Rent a car", this way you will find all contacts. Have a nice time in Dubai ))

Hello, if you can visit Dubai then you should concern with local Dubai Inbound Tour Operator. They are arrangements all facilities. Recently I visited Dubai with my friends and the trip was very exciting and enjoyable. There are many travel agencies but according to one of my friends suggestion we choose Altdubai travel agency and it wouldn’t become a wrong decision. Due to this agency we enjoyed our trip a lot and it became very memorable for us.I hope it will help you.
