Dear Mary, I volunteered with Global Volunteers this spring in India and thought it was a wonderful experience. Global Volunteers works on projects that involve children, so we were helping teach English and spending time in a semi-orphanage there (a home for kids, most of whom are orphaned). The program was very well-organized, the work challenging, and the cultural exchange tremendous. From personal experience I can highly recommend them, though there are dozens of other reputable organizations. I hope this helps!
