After cruise where to go

by 55vineyard »

Well, I do not think the cruise stops in Molokai or Lanai so you could maybe consider those, or go back to the favorite island you visited during the cruise for a few days. I presume you will rent a car because you need one. Only drawback to Lanai, is I believe the 2 Four Seasons hotels are closed for remodeling this year.

My wife and I are planning a seven day August cruise around Hawaii on Norwegian Cruise Lines.  We are in our mid-sixties and I have not been to Hawaii before.  After the cruise, we would like to spend two or three days exploring parts of Hawaii that are not featured on the cruise which originates from and returns to Honolulu.  I assume that we will see many of the popular sites during cruise excursions, but I would be interested in finding  places / events that we should not miss which are the “hidden treasures” of Hawaii.  Any suggestions?

You're right: Lanai is going to be closed this year. But Molokai is a marvelous suggestion. Fascinating history, totally unspoiled, fab hiking. The only downside to Molokai is that the food is lousy. Another suggestion would be to go to the less touristed areas of Kauai or Maui. You likely won't be able to see all that much in day tours from a cruise, and both of those islands have much to offer those who linger.

I have visited Hawaii approx a year ago with my family. You should not left any place in Hawaii to visit but if time does not permits you, You should not miss pearl harbor.

I guess it will be included in the cruise planning, but if not include it.

After Cruising, you can start visiting the best tourist  spots in Hawaii one by one. Some of my favorite are:   1. Grand Canyon of the Pacific   2. Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, Big Island   3. Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, Oahu   Are you using public trasnsportation for travelling? Since you are here for the first time so you mght not know  You can rent a car to travel comfortably (especially when you are travelling with your family). In hawa youcna easily find affordable car rental services.
