WHO: Yellow Fever Booster no longer needed after 10 years

by pdhenry »

The World Health Organization (WHO) has revised their guidance regarding the Yellow Fever vaccine.  Previously a booster shot was recommended 10 years after initial inoculation.  Now the one shot is regarded as providing lifetime protection.  They specifically state that a booster is not needed.

The US CDC page still shows the recommendation for a 10-year booster.  I wonder how quickly the immigration people around the world who would ask for your yellow card will get the message...

Thanks for the info.  Last year our Travel Med people told us that they thought it was no longer going to need a booster.  That's good news if it really doesn't need a booster.
