by winker59 »

looking at going to Boston on the 17th of Dec for 5 nites.

staying around the copley square area.

just wondering if this is a good area for walking to bars/clubs/resturants without taking too many cabs.

also any other christmas festivities you can recommend - very welcome.

many thanks in advance.

Yes, it's a terrific area for getting around on foot. Lots of very nice restaurants and bars in that area. As for events, there are holiday fairs with crafts in many places (including Harvard Square in Cambridge), several well-respected productions of the Nutcracker and lots of seasonal music concerts.

Have fun!

Best,

Pauline

Copley Sq is lovely, and there are a few tourist sites there (BPL, Trinity Church, close to Boston Common) but it's also a busy shopping/dining area.  Most importantly, you are near both the orange and green lines of the T (our subway), which is the way you should get around while here. Be sure to buy a T pass as soon as you arrive.
