Visiting Jalisco Tequila

by melwil »

Hi,   I am looking for any advice on visiting Jalisco and doing a few Tequila tours. I prefer a private tour and something that will actually provide a good way to see several distilleries , learn about Tequila, the making as we'll as have the opportunity for tastings. My husband is a Tequila connoisseur with a collection of higher end Tequilas and I am looking to find something that he will enjoy.   I have found a few companies who offer tours but most seem to be in very large groups and several reviews have been mediocre. While some enjoy the tours other claim most take you to distilleries that offer cheap tequila that does not taste good .   Any advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to know if the recommendation is to make Jalisco a day trip or stay in town and if so how many days. Then while not staying in Jalsico would it be best to make Guadalajara the base.        Thanks
