Help with choosing hotel

by /bio/jairofrcht »

I´m going with my wife to LV in november and after analyzing prices and comments on Trip Advisor and Frommers, I´m in doubt about staying at Signature MGM, Vdara and Encore at Wynn.

For me, ballads and casinos do not matter (I will not gamble) , but staying in a hotel "tucked away from the bustle" may perhaps be a little frustrating... The issue for me is to stay between an apparently better hotel (Encore), a bit more expensive, with more extra-charges (for wifi and other services), and a little farther from the Strip center (Bellagio region); or stay in an also great hotel (Vdara or MGM Signature), but a little simpler, away from the hype in central Strip, without restaurants exactly at the spot, but with no cigarette smell.

The Signature is much cheaper than the others (about USD100/day to Encore and USD50 to Vdara), and I was wondering if is worth paying this difference. The distance to the Strip (almost 20 minutes walking) from Signature MGM is a big problem (I´ll be without a car in Las Vegas) or walking through MGM Hotel is not a big deal? The fact that there were not restaurants in the hotel bothered somehow?

I take this oporttunity to ask for additional tips for Las Vegas shows. I will go to Rod Steart (already bought) and I'm thinking of going to Le Reve (instead of Cirque du Soleil "O") and the Cirque du Soleil Beatles. Any other suggestions?

THANK YOU in advance!
