From what I'm reading it doesn't sound like there's all that much to do beside a museum and a fort. Am I wrong? I usually try and add on a bit of "me" time when I travel for work, but I'm just not sure I should in this case.

Halifax is a surprising city. On first glance, it's not the prettiest place because so many of its buildings were destroyed by a terrible explosion during World War 2 (or was it World War 1--please correct me if you remember). But it has two terrific museums, a historic fort that's worth visiting (time your visit to the changing of the guard), some terrific restaurants and within driving distance of it are some lovely areas (including the famous Peggy's Cove, which, unfortunately is now overly touristed). I'd say give it an extra two days or so.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Pauline
