Favorite Foreign Road Trips Over the Years

by /bio/billiv »

Over the past 40 years, we've made many road trips in North America and Europe.  Excluding those in our own country (USA), my favorites:

1. Spanish and French Pyrenees and northeastern Spain from Bilbao to Barcelona, 2014.

2. Germany: Bamberg--Munich--Mosel River, 2002.

3. Austrian Alps and northeastern Switzerland (Salzburg to Zurich), 2011,

4. BENELUX (Amsterdam--Cologne--Luxembourg--Bruges--Delft--Amsterdam), 2006.

5. Canadian Rockies: Edmonton--Jasper--Banff--Calgary, 2008,

The entire Icefields Parkway is long, stretching from Lake Louise to Jasper it’s a 140 mile stretch of road that was completed 75 years ago.

What kind of car did you use to have these road trips? What are the features your car needs for a long family road trip? We own an SUV and also want to have more family vacations. We purchased this Subaru Forester 2008 for sale from a Japanese car trading platform (https://carfromjapan.com/cheap-used-subaru-forester-for-sale-year2008) and we have also traveled from CA to AZ with 3 adults and 2 children for a week. It's a 4WD and we managed to put all luggage in the car.
