Seville during 3 Kings Day - what will be open?

by /bio/jjl »

I will be in Seville from the afternoon of Jan 5th to the evening of Jan 8th and I am trying to find out what sights besides the Plaza de Espana will be open on January 6th. Any suggestions? I want to see the parade but I also want to be able to see some sights that day it seems like most things are closed.

Hi!

Most main monuments will be closed for sure. The 6th of January is a huge holiday so only those monuments that are open and in the outdoors can be visited (just like the Plaza España).

You can visit San Telmo Palace, The Golden Tower, Triana quarter, Plaza del Cabildo and many churches that do open on that day and can easily be considered a monument (Basilica de la Macarena, El Salvador Church...etc)

It's true that we just missed the holiday week of Jan 6th, but we were told that most of the places that we saw and visited were not affected by the holidays. We got a few ideas from a Seville itineary list that someone put together here https://www.confettitravelcafe.com/weekend-in-seville/. We particularly enjoyed trying to locate all of the exact filming locations of game of thrones. There are some incredible oprtunities for photos and loads to see that won't be affected whatever time of year that you visit Seville. We will go again but we'd like to find another 'travel checklist' to follow next time for some original ideas of more places to visit.
