I'm starting from scratch and want to know if you can travel from Heathrow Airport to points southwest (Plymouth) by train and then return via Oxford.  I can't get to first base on the website as I don't know stations and logistics.  Is it better to rent a car at Heathrow and head west for sight seeing out west or would it be a pleasurable ride from Heathrow to Plymouth for example.  If it's stopping in everylittle village along the way then probably not interested. If there is a direct train to points west then would be interested.  Can you get me pointed to first base to understand the trains.  Thanks, CraigT
