Which parks in a week?

by jfitz43 »

We are traveling this summer to UT and would like to fly into SLC out out of possibly Flagstaff.  Nothing is set yet so I'm looking for feedback about which parks to visit in 8 days.  We have 2 teenage sons and are considering Zion/ Arches/ and or Grand Canyon.  Plus one night in Park City.  Any input would help!   We are not one to let grass grow under our feet so max 3 days in one location is plenty.  All three look beautiful.  Thanks for the advice!

Yes all three are fabulous! And the thing about Arches is it also has Canyonlands, right there. So I'd say give at least 3 days to exploring those two parks. There's a terrific ranger led tour of Arches that takes you into places that you wouldn't be allowed to go into alone. You need to be in good shape, as you do a lot of scrambling around. I'd combine those, off-hand, with Grand Canyon but you need to look at a map to see what makes the most sense, driving-wise.
