One famed American traveler, Mark Twain, toured Europe extensively, and Heidelberg was one of his favorite places there. He came here in May of 1878 and stayed for the entire summer, rafting down the Neckar and worked on the book that would become The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

For the seventh year running, Alaska travel columnist Scott McMurren has published a little booklet chock full of coupons good for two-for-one deals, discounts and free admissions all across our forty-ninth state. While the $99.95 pricetag might seem steep at first, the Great Alaskan TourSaver has some doozies when it comes to getting your money's worth.

From SayAPrayer: "At this point in time, Frommer's readers must be well aware of the devastating earthquake in Asia and the even more deadly tsunamis that crushed the outlying coasts from Africa to India to Southeast Asia. We get so much information (from the trivial to the dire) from each other on these boards, I thought it was important to post a list of agencies that are involved in or are directing relief efforts that could use support at this time. In addition to the following list, you can keep up to date on information and how to help with CNN's special section at www.cnn.com/quake."
From GeorgeW: "Where would I find knowledgeable, honest & efficient resources to help me plan a somewhat long and complicated trip? This is what might be my most important and last trip -- to go around the world and contemplate my life during the trip."
From hlee: "At the last minute, my husband and I decided to take our 12-year-old and spend Christmas Eve at Gaylord's Opryland Hotel. Expedia had a 'traditional' (cheapest) room for a rate of $139 plus 2 free tickets to 'Ice' (a fabulous exhibit and $14.95pp)."
From Zach Scott: "I'm planning a trip to Greece in the early summer that will involve a layover in Paris (Air France). Depending on the flights we catch, it could be either an hour and a half or three and a half hours in CDG airport. A friend advised allowing at least 4 hours for an international layover, but I'm clinging to the hope that I could get away with the shorter one. Can anyone share any insight onto preferable layover lengths?"
From Tiffany Barber: "Gate1travel.com is advertising a $399 rountrip from NYC to Rome right now. I've read mixed reviews about this company but the deal seems great. Is it really that wonderful? It will be my first time to Rome so any advice would be much appreciated."
