In addition to the basket full of bargains enumerated last week for airfare discounts, we've got two more to add to the list; national carrier Air Canada and the no-frills Airtran.
For the month of January 2003 only, Tahiti Vacations is selling weeklong packages to the French Polynesian utopias of Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. This deal is last-minute and entirely affordable, so our crystal ball says spaces will sell out quickly.
One of my favorite places to save money, the Viva Resort chain, is running monthlong special at its Puerto Vallarta property, the Viva Vallarta, located in the Vallarta Bay neighborhood in that marvelous city, often called "the Santa Barbara of Mexico." The price is right--just $80 per person per night; a nightly savings of $56 per couple.
When Globus, one of the world's premier tour operators, decided to try something a little different with its North American programs, it settled on things like sitting in on a Stella Adler acting school class, having cowboy breakfasts along the river near Canyonlands National Park, or staying at famous hotels that are destinations unto themselves, some of which can cost as little as $133 a day.
Ritz Tours have been offering trips to China and other Asian places for nearly 23 years. Right now through February 28, 2003, this outfit is snipping off $100 per person for early bookings for any of its 2003 tours. To qualify, you must book at least 45 days before the departure date (and by February 28) and pay a deposit of $200 per person within a week of making your reservations. You can pay with a personal check, a Visa or Mastercard.

From Jessica Morse: "We're planning a sort of European tour and trying to decide whether or not we should make a stop in Amsterdam. Is it worth it? How long should our stop be?"
From Roni S.: "Can anyone give me advice about how best to protect my snoboard when flying? The airline has been unhelpful, saying I can use a bicycle box if I want to. Is there usually an extra charge to fly with a snowboard?"
From W. E. Snow: "Warning I just returned and was somewhat disappointed in the property - Very quiet - no activities during the day - staff somewhat friendly but not up to par with Superclubs, or Sandals. Food was excellent, pool great, only one Jacuzzi running. Not 50% full, and they had to show us five (5) rooms before we found one that was not musty. If you want time alone with your wife, this is a great place to go. All on the bus back to airport agreed it was there last trip."
From Liz S.: "Just wanted to let everyone know about Sarah Ragsdale of Explore Charleston Tours. If you're looking for lots of great information and interesting history she is the tour guide for you! She offers private tours of the downtown area as well as the plantations. You can reach her at ExploreHolyCity@aol.com. We hire her every time we visit there, and learn something new every time!"
From Gayatri Rajan: "Miami is my least favorite place to go (I was born there). But on a recent trip back I visited the Fairchild Tropical Gardens. Absolutely exquisite and highly recommended. A tram will take you on a guided tour if you'd rather not walk through. Best to go in the fall or early spring when it's not too hot."
