If you want to take part in this year's celebration, you've got more than a fat chance of celebrating Fat Tuesday in New Orleans.
This Rhine River metropolis has been at the center of art and commerce since the Romans settled it over two millennia ago, and it continues to make waves this year as the Art Cologne festival moves to Spring.
The U.S. dollar has taken a bit of a beating of late, devaluing against many world currencies, but nowhere have the effects been felt more strongly than in Europe. For those always keen to travel this means either spending more or rethinking their next vacation and looking further a field for bargains.
This week we travel to a destination where over three million Americans travel to each year: Cancun. I was invited on a special trip for Club Med's re-opening party after Hurricane Wilma devastated the region a year and a half ago. You'll be impressed to see how our southern neighbors have made limeade out of limones.

From ngbball21: "My dad and I are doing this in a few years. We know U.S. history from once it started here with the colonies, but what about the Old World? We are going to England, of course, and in France we are going to Normandy."
From Jim Lathom: "First I'd like to let you know that my wife and I are budget travelers. We feel that you don't have to spend $400 a night to have a good time. Nassau/New Providence Island (NPI) was not my first choose as a destination, but when I found RT tickets from Tampa for $185 with taxes through Spirit Air (recommended) I reluctantly bought them."
From arlinek: "Has anyone used Travelers Emergency Network? It costs $129 for for annual coverage. We travel often to out of the way spots and would prefer annual coverage to per trip coverage."
From spencer1098: "My husband and I have never been to Montana and not knowing what to expect we booked a tour call 2007 Great Lodges of the Glaciers. We are not hikers, but like to stroll around and look at the beautiful surroundings. This is a 6-day tour with each night staying at a different lodge."
From smf834: "It'll be my second time in Amsterdam, and last time I didn't get to do the canal ride. Wonder if I can get some good tips on finding a good canal boat ride in town. Which company should I avoid?"
