From Julie Steinberger: "In reading over various areas of this message board I often see people writing about great efforts they make in order to avoid looking like Americans or tourists in general. They're going out of their way to dress or behave in a manner that they feel will allow them to blend in with the local people, attempt to speak languages they don't speak and generally try to be something they're not."
From Kitty W: "I have heard that instead of buying flights in advance or booking directly through the airlines that fly inter-island flights, the "locals" and those in the know buy vouchers or coupons that are pretty cheap (like under $100 one way).
From Maggie Neill: "I'm a flight attendant for a major airline. I purchased a ticket on Air Jamaica and was quite disappointed with the attitude and service that I received."
From Michelle Profant: "I had booked a trip for two to Paris using Adventure Vacations out of LaJolla CA. They booked me on a package trip with New Frontiers. On the 15th day prior to departure, I called Adventure Vacations (AV) and asked if the trip could be postponed as my dad was having health problems. The next day, the 14th day, I was told that the trip had been cancelled."
From Joe Lastra: "Planning on going go Rio for Carnaval 2003. Never been to Rio. Anyone care to relate their experiences they had?"
