Airfare wars notwithstanding, some tour operators can bring you low roundtrip rates on trips to Europe for months at a time. Sunnyland Tours is making the eight-month promise of air-only specials to Amsterdam and Paris as low as $299 round trip, valid through May 31, 2003 from 15 U.S. gateways.
It was once the seat of the Holy Roman Empire until those conniving Hapsburgs move it too snootier Vienna. It's the only major European city that hasn't been obliterated in part or in whole even once by warfare, providing a stunning timeline of architectural styles spanning most of modern history. It's home to master puppeteers, cheap and spicy eats and even cheaper beer.
The traditional Christmas of ornamented trees it's not, but Yuletide in Mexico (it is the home of the poinsettia, after all) can be a lot of fun, particularly if you celebrate it at Avalon Resorts with one of their tequila martinis. You'll feel happy about their prices, too, which begin as low as $59 per person, all-inclusive!

From Amy Bordovsky: "This is our first trip here and we don't want to miss a thing. Does this look feasible timewise, do I have things grouped together pretty well, in relation/location to each other? Any advice would be helpful."
From Thom S: We just got back from a 4 day/3 night stay at Breezes. We took a chance by going in September because of hurricane season, but found the SuperSaver special to be irresistible (book a trip in September '02 and stay an equal number of nights for free in September '03). As it turns out, there were 2 hurricanes (Isadora and Lili) that passed by to the South of the Bahamas, but they gave us no ill effects. We did experience one late day thunderstorm that was not hurricane related and was really kind of fun to watch."
From Josh Payne: "Having recently returned from a wonderful trip to France, I'd like to recommend a particular tour that I took through the Loire Valley to see several Chateaus. The tour started in Tours, France. Getting there and back was up to me, and the tour company was very helpful in helping me determine which train to take so that I could arrive early enough to get a good start on the day. A quick 1-hour train trip south saw me there with ease. "
From Robin Wicker: "Just a post to let people know that our Queenslander Train trip was wonderful. We took the train from Cairns to Brisbane a week after our Ghan trip from Adelaide to Alice Springs. You get a much better "bang for your buck" on the Queenslander. 4 meals, private compartment, 36 hours of wonderful scenery and a far more comfortable bed and ride."
From Mary Sughrue-Yacino: "My family is planning a trip to Ireland next summer. As the parent of a picky eater, I'm wondering what kinds of food we would expect to encounter. I'd like to try preparing some typical Irish meals at home so that my child is familiar with it by the time we go on vacation."
