In this latest roundup, we've found affordable, multi-night packages and Shenendoah and Mesa Verde; a new educational program at Yellowstone; and a tale about the surprising results of what can happen to "litterbugs."
For an in-depth learning vacation, consider joining a field institute or camp such as these in and around the Grand Canyon, Glen Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion parks.
RVers who would prefer to travel or camp with a group can join up with any number of like-minded people for a paid vacation tour in their own rig instead of a tour bus, or a friendly get-together with other owners of the same brand of RV.
Consider these points before you buy or lease a recreational vehicle.

From Brenda Elwell: "I'll be doing some hiking in Death Valley the first week of December. Any suggestions for a place to stay within the park or close to it that is less than $100 a night? We'll be driving in from Las Vegas."
From Cirino Lombard: "I am thinking of taking a tour package that includes the National Parks and the Grand Canyon. Has anyone haad experience with GoAhead Vacations as a tour company? Has anyone been with another tour company on this trip that they would recommend?"
From srqrobin: "My husband and I currently have a flight arriving at Hilo at 8 a.m. and returning to Honolulu at 7 p.m. for a day trip to the volcano. Is it possible to see enough to make it worth our while? If so, any recommendations on the best itineray? I've seen pics & read about hiking over the crunchy lava with its vents of steam and would like to experience that, plus any possible view of the volcano (erupting or not). We're pretty fit so can make the hike. I'm just worried about the time it takes to drive and hike just to get a view. Any suggestions would be greatly, greatly appreciated. I've thought about calling Hawaiian Air to see about switching flights to allow for one overnight stay. Would that make a lot of difference? Thanks for any input."
From andrea k.: "I'm taking an impulsive road trip to Kanab UT to volunteer at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. I plan to do the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, then play it by ear through Iowa, Colorado, Iowa, etc. Any suggestions for things to see along the way? Would anyone recommend a different route back to Boston? I'll have my two delightful, literate teens with me as well. Thanks!"
From cherie hayes: "Due to the great airfares offered by Southwest, I have decided to fly up to Seattle and take a 10-day drive through western British Columbia. I went to Vancouver Island a few years ago and loved it; Tofino was wonderful. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of great road trips there. Everything is beautiful to us Texans, and I would love to see lots of wildlife. I understand that north of Vancouver is an area where lots of bald eagles can be seen. I'd love to kayak, hike, sightsee, etc. I just don't know where to begin and the air schedule will be based on how much time I might spend driving. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated."
