Perks and Packages: Leaving Las Vegas with a Fatter Wallet

October 24, 2003 -- Sin City isn't always cheap. All those "extras" that are usually included in your stay in almost any destination on the planet have a pricetag attached to them on and off the Strip. You can bet on paying for access to your hotel's fitness center, for the use of pool gear and for that continental breakfast for example. Well, we've rounded up some cost-cutting hotel stays and a nifty air-hotel package to boot.

At the MGM Mirage, stunned by the mandatory cancellation of the Siegfried & Roy show for an indefinite time due to the unfortunate tiger attack on Roy Horn, there are added value deals including free meals, tickets to attractions and entertainment, discounts on food, on shopping, on spa services and more. The bargains apply to the hotel's affiliates as well -- Golden Nugget, MGM Grand, New York-New York and Treasure Island.

At the Mirage itself, there's a "Winter Oasis" package, in which those booking between October 19 and December 27, 2003 for travel November 23 through December 27, 2003 (Sunday through Thursday arrivals only) receive a $10 free slot play card per room, per stay; a free Secret Garden pass per person, per stay; and one spa pass, per person, per stay.

At the Golden Nugget, you get a Golden Values booklet if you book for travel from November 15 through December 25, 2003 (one per room) featuring one free breakfast, lunch or dinner with the purchase of another at The Buffet; $10 off any spa or salon service of at least $40 or more; $10 off any retail purchases of $40 or more at the Golden Nugget or Gift Boutique; one free ticket per person to the Spirit of the Dance for customers arriving November 29 through December 25, 2003.

The MGM Grand will give you its Gold Pack if you book a vacation from now through December 28, 2003, arriving Sunday through Thursday October 1 through November 15 or November 21 through December 31, 2003. The Gold Pack gives you a twofer Grand Buffet (breakfast lunch or dinner for up to six people); twofer cocktails (limited locations, maximum of two persons); $5 of a Grand Spa day pass (one coupon); and free admission to Studio 54 (Tuesday through Thursday only).

VIP Rewards are what New York-New York calls its book, for guests reserving now through October 31, 2003. It includes discounts on food, beverages, entertainment and shopping.

Treasure Island has a Hidden Treasures coupon book with similar discounts, for people booking from now through December 31, 2002 for travel October 26, 2003 through January 26, 2004. It includes a free breakfast buffet with the purchase of one (except weekends and holidays), a free one-day spa pass with the purchase of a second; a free bottle of wine with purchase of two dinner entrees at Francesco's; a 20% discount at their retail or gift stores.
