The little airline with the big name, National, has just opened up a new route from Las Vegas to Reno/Lake Tahoe, and is celebrating the fact with fares as low as $39 one-way from Vegas. You can save an additional $5 one-way when you book on their Web site, www.nationalairlines.com, making the fare an unbelievable $34!

You have to buy this kind of ticket, good from at least nine of National's gateways, by October 14, 2002, but you can travel anytime from October 3 through December 18 of 2002. That should take you in to the beginning of the ski season, too.

Some of the one-way fares in this celebratory sale (before the $5 Web savings), to or from Reno/Lake Tahoe include:

  • Chicago (O'Hare) $99
  • Dallas Fort Worth $99
  • Las Vegas $39
  • Los Angeles $59
  • Miami $109
  • New York (JFK or Newark) $109
  • Philadelphia $109
  • Washington (Dulles) $109
  • West Palm Beach $109

The fares are available only for seven-day advance purchase, and they are non-refundable. Travel between Reno/Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas or Los Angeles is valid Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays. In all other markets, travel is valid to Reno/Lake Tahoe Saturdays through Wednesdays, and from Reno/Lake Tahoe Tuesdays through Saturdays. Blackout dates are November 17, November 26-27 and December 1-2.

Prices do not include passenger facility charges of up to $4.50 for each segment, and a federal excise tax of up to $3 for each segment, nor a September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 per segment.

National Airlines operates an all-Boeing fleet of 757 aircraft, and has received several awards for outstanding customer service.
