Six Nights in Prague, Vienna, and Budapest from $1,219 with Rail and Air

Visit Central Europe's ancient cities in late fall and save $199 per person.

This week's deal comes from European Destinations (tel. 877/267-2247; www.europeandestinations.com), and puts you in Prague, Vienna and Budapest for two nights apiece from $1,219 per person

The package includes two nights at Three Crowns Hotel in Prague in a standard double room with complimentary Wi-Fi, in-room safes, and private bathrooms. You can walk 15-20 minutes to Wenceslas Square, or you can hop on the tram, which comes frequently and can zip you into the city center in a matter of minutes. Take in the panorama of the City of a Thousand Spires from atop Prague Castle, stroll the Charles Bridge, or explore the city's many antique shops. You'll zip along to Vienna via high-speed rail and spend two nights at Austria Trend Hotel Messe, a comfortable, modern-looking property near a metro station and the Prater -- a popular recreation area with walking and jogging trails and an amusement park. From Vienna, high-speed rail will take you to Budapest, where you can rejuvenate in one of its steamy therapeutic baths before setting out to see the sights.

Why is this a deal? If you booked the airfare into Prague from New York and out of Budapest back to New York, it would cost you $846. The accommodations would cost you 510.56€ ($658.90) or $329 per person, with tax, if you reserved on your own. The high-speed second-class reserved rail tickets would come to $243 per person. Booking these components separately would cost you $1,418; reserving the trip with European Destinations saves you $199 per person.
