Two codes for two different discounts, it's as simple as that. If you book before December 13, 2002, you can get 30% off most Amtrak tickets if you phone in your reservations, but you can get an additional 5% off if you book online. You may travel anytime from now through February 28, 2003, except for blackout dates listed below.
To phone in, call 800/USA-RAIL or your travel agent and refer to Discount Code H233 for the 30% reduction.
On the Web, go to www.amtrak.com and refer to Discount Code H234 in order to get your 35% off.
Amtrak serves more than 500 towns and cities around most of the contiguous 48 states, so this is a good time to use their services to visit family and friends before and after the holidays.
Naturally, there are conditions: The 30% is off the best available rail fare. Up to two children (ages 2 to 15) per paid adult may accompany at half the discounted adult fare. Blackouts apply as follows: November 26-December 2, 2002; December 19-31, 2002; January 1-5, 2003: February 14-17, 2003.
You have to make reservations at least 3 days prior to travel. Fares are nonrefundable. The discount is not valid on Acela Express, Metroliner, joint Amtrak-VIA Rail services to Ontario or on connecting services provided by other non-Amtrak carriers, 7000-8999 Thruway services, or for local travel within the Northeast Corridor on Fridays and Sundays between 11 AM and 11 PM inclusive. Fares and routes are subject to change without notice, and other restrictions may apply.
You should also remember that there are everyday savings for students, seniors, veterans and children, as well as special promotions for Amtrak Vacations, Air/Rail deals, Rail Passes and a Rail Sale on occasion.
For additional information and fares and schedules, go to www.amtrak.com. The phone is 800/USA-RAIL (same as 800/872-7245).
