This deal proves the maxim that age has its benefits. From November 15, 2002 through January 19, 2003 the recently renovated Galleria Park Hotel is offering room rates based solely on the year that you were born.
It work likes this. If you were born in 1966, then you pay $66 a night, excluding taxes. Born in 1921? Then you pay only $21 a night, which is truly astounding when you consider that the Galleria's rack rate is a whopping $235 per night! To get the special rate, tell them you want the "Pay the Year You Were Born" rate when making your reservations, and then show your driver's license or other ID that proves your age when you check in. In our sample callings, the lowest rate they would give us was $60 per night over the phone, but each time the reservationists stated the rates would be adjusted at check-in once you showed your ID. The only restrictions are that you can reserve only one room per ID, you must book a minimum of two nights, and those nights can be only Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Included amenities include tea service and evening wine tastings.
The 177-room hotel was built in 1911 and renovated just last year. It's part of the Kimpton Group of hotels, notable for its luxury properties that feature excellent customer service and keen design instincts such as the Hotel Monacos in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Chicago, New Orleans, Denver, Salt Lake City and Seattle. It's located in the financial district, just a few blocks away from hoppin' Union Square.
