Smart Deal of the Week: Escorted Ireland from $579 for Four Nights

The DIY specialists at Go-Today dip their toes into the waters of escorted tours with a handful of discounts on packages to Ireland.

We often feature deals from the company Go-Today (tel. 800/227-3235; www.go-today.com), which is known for its well-priced, independent travel packages to destinations around the world. Recently, the company started bolstering its escorted offerings, and to that end, Go-Today is offering $100 off escorted, land-only trips in 2009 to Ireland, provided you book by October 29 -- the dates were just extended. Make sure you use the promo code GTESC. Most of the trips are to Ireland, and the package price includes accommodations in first-class properties, full Irish breakfast daily, airport-hotel transfers, entrance fees per itinerary, transportation, and the services of a professional Irish tour director. The price does not include airfare; however, these trips are so far in the future you can start watching for fare sales and plan accordingly. Or you can certainly book your airfare through Go-Today.

Most of the escorted tours that are on sale are for Ireland, starting from $579 for a four-night trip called Ireland's Finest Pub Tour, which takes you to Dublin, Killarney, and Shannonside. This price reflects departures November 4-11 based on double occupancy and does not include airfare (it's land only); next year's dates include February 2-March 3 from $679 and November 4-December 2 from $689.

Go-Today's Best of Ireland tour is a nine-day trip that stops in Dublin, Waterford, and Galway and takes you to the Ring of Kerry, the Guinness brewery, and the ruin of Clonmacnois. It's priced from $1,119 for a November 2 or 16 departure this fall, bit the trip is available in 2009 starting February 15 and then again March 1-22 from $1,249 and throughout select dates in spring and fall 2009. Again, you receive the services of an Irish tour director, comfortable motorcoach, along with six nights of accommodations in first-class hotels and a night in a15th century Irish castle. Irish breakfast is included every morning you wake up in Ireland, and four dinners (along with a Medieval banquet) is included. In terms of attractions, your entrance fees to places such as St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Guinness Storehouse, the Waterford Crystal factory tour, along with sightseeing in places such as Dublin, Meath, Cavan, Galway, Kilarney and the Cliffs of Moher, among other places, is all included.
