Unique Boutiques: 25 Hip and Modern San Francisco Hotels Cutting Rates

For the fourth year running, much of the City by the Bay is having its winter sale, with hotel rooms going for as little as $99 per night. That's the rate for some of the accommodations being offered by the Joie de Vivre Hospitality people, the Kimpton Boutique hotels folds and Personality Hotels.

Those three chains have teamed up with American Express and Frontier Airlines to launch www.sfonsale.com. The hotels that don't have rooms for $99 have some at $135, and both are bargains especially when compared to rack rates that can run a few hundred dollars. If you pay with an AmEx card, you get an additional 10% off. Frontier Airlines' EarlyReturns members who use same said card to fly to San Francisco or neighboring San Jose on Frontier will earn double bonus miles as well.

You'll find these $99-a-night establishments in the Union Square area: Andrews, Commodore, Bijou, Cosmo, Metropolis, Union Square, Vintage Court, Juliana, Kensington Park, Monticello, Carlton. Rooms at $135 per night in the same area include the Rex, the Triton, the Maxwell, Sir Francis Drake and the Villa Florence

ElsewsjIn the Financial District, it's the Galleria Park for $99, in Civic Center the Phoenix, ditto. In the Embarcadero District, for $99 rooms, try the Harbor Court Hotel and in the Theater District, the Savoy.

In Alamo Square, $135 will get you a room at the Archbishop's Mansion, in Marina District at the Hotel Del Sol. Finally, in Nob Hill, there are rooms at $135 at the Lambourne, the Diva and Serrano hotels.

The deals are available through April 15, 2003, and are subject to space availability, as well as certain other terms and restrictions.

Go to www.sfonsale.com to see pictures of each hotel and its rooms and for booking.
