Bargains to (the) Boot: Special Discounts Across Italy for Early Bookers and Seniors, Too

If you act quickly, you can reap a $250 per couple savings and have a chance to win a free vacation on first-class packages to Italy with Globus Tours and British Airways. If you're an AARP member, you also get an additional $50 discount. But you have to book by December 20, 2002, for travel April 10 to December 31, 2003.

Globus Tours, part of the world's largest vacation planning operation, is discounting many packages. The discount does not apply to select Scandinavian vacations and is based on space availability, as well as other restrictions, which may apply.

Examples, before discounts, include:

Italian Treasures: Prices range from $1,824 to $2,324, including air for 11 days/nine nights touring Rome, Florence, Venice, Pisa and Assisi. In addition St. Peter's, the Sistine Chapel, the Coliseum, Michelangelo's David, St. Marks's and the Doges' Palace in Venice, you'll see the excavations of Ostia Antica in Siena and the Verazzano Castle in Chianti, with stops in Bologna, Ravenna and Orvieto.

Italy's Great Cities: Prices run $1,504 to $2,027 for nine days/seven nights including air, with many of the cities mentioned above, plus Verona (for Juliet's Balcony), Padua (the Basilica of St. Anthony), the Tyrrhenian Coast, the Lombardian Plains, the Etruscan Apennine mountains and Chianti wine country.

Italy at Leisure: Priced at $2,033 to $2,724 for 11 days/nine nights, including air. Many of the highlights mentioned above, with three nights in Rome and three in Florence, as well as two nights in Venice.
