The heat wave in most of the U.S. during July has caused some fuddled thinking now and then, but if you keep a clear head, you can remember that Canada is ALWAYS cooler than the 48 contiguous states of America. United Vacations are offering reduced airfares to Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver with discounts up to $120 per person.
All the mini vacations include roundtrip airfare on United Airlines or Air Canada, three nights lodging and the occasional entertainment voucher. Here are just a few of their sample vacations (there are many more, so be sure to ask about the area you are interested in):
Boston to Montreal, airfare and three nights at the Holiday Inn Midtown, plus a voucher for a Montreal Casino certificate and priority access into the casino goes for $349. You can also pay higher hotel prices, such as $454 at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth or $474 at Le Centre Sheraton.
Out of Minneapolis, you can fly to Calgary or Vancouver and save up to $110 per person, paying $464 at the Sandman Downtown for three nights in Calgary, or $514 at the Sandman Vancouver for three nights.
From Atlanta, you can take a vacation to Toronto or Montreal and save up to $75 per person, with three nights at the Bond Place Hotel for $474, more at other participating hotels. To Montreal, you get your three nights at the Holiday Inn and a Casino Montreal voucher plus a $10 certificate for $509 ($589 at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth).
Out of New York, you can visit either Toronto or Montreal with up to a $50 saving per person. Stay at the Bond Place Hotel in Toronto for $384, at the Holiday Inn Midtown in Montreal for $414, either for three nights.
Prices are per person based on double occupancy and are valid for travel through December 30, 2002. Extra charges include airport and security fees of up to $31 per person.
