Frommer's Smart Deal of the Week: Do Disney for Seven Days for Under $700 (With Air)

Deals to Disney are not always all that they are cracked up to be -- they come with hidden fees that make savings questionable. But this one from United Airlines is the real thing.

Deals to Disney are not always all that they are cracked up to be -- lots of times they come with hidden fees or fine print that makes their savings questionable, or they don't include airfare. The one offered by United Airlines Vacations (tel. 888/854-3899; www.unitedvacations.com), however, does.

Valid for travel in spring and summer, these trips to Disney are priced from $694 and include three days of free theme park tickets and three free nights for a total of seven days of park admittance and seven nights of accommodations altogether. Roundtrip airfare is part of the price, along with transfers to and from the airport and hotel and 24-hour expert assistance. Specifically, the promotional period is based on travel now through April 4 and April 19-August 15 -- including the Fourth of July weekend, if you are brave or dedicated enough to head to Florida in the middle of the summer. The lowest advertised price reflects Wednesday or Thursday travel from Washington, D.C. with accommodations at an entry-level, value-rated standard room at Disney All-Star Resorts from April 29-May 13. Other properties are also listed with varying levels of amenities: the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort, with pools and beaches, is available from $814; the Animal Kingdom Lodge, with views of zebra and birds and more, from $1,039. The priciest destination is the Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, from $1,114, characterized as lakeside villas reminiscent of upstate New York resorts.

There are additional savings if you travel through March 29 you can receive a $300 Disney gift card; the amount is $100 for travel March 30-June 27. You can use it at stores, resorts, and on the Disney store online. This special is also helpful for consumers because it spells out exactly what you get for the prices and gives you an array of departure cities to choose from; you can easily see that traveling from Chicago starts at $704 or a Los Angeles departure starts from $839, both for the entry-level resort. Just make sure you enter the promo code GIFT when you book by March 29, which is the deadline.
