Frommer's Smart Deal of the Week: Flights and Five Nights in Hong Kong from $1,099

Get a taste of Hong Kong in the off season. Go-Today's bargain package includes round-trip airfare, five nights' accommodations on the Kowloon Peninsula, and almost all taxes and fees.

This package from Go-Today (tel. 800/227-3235; www.go-today.com) includes round-trip airfare to Hong Kong, five nights' accommodations, hotel taxes and service charges, and airline fuel surcharges and starts at $1,099 for travel May 1-May 28. Other departure dates are possible, all the way through the end of September, but they are priced higher, going as high as $1,749 for mid-summer travel, when Hong Kong usually experiences a dry spell. In May, the weather is starting to become hotter and more humid, but there are several festivals -- one to honor the Buddha and the Hong Kong Dragon Boat festival on May 28. Regardless of when you go, to take advantage of these rates you must book by April 9.

The independent trip is priced based on double occupancy at the tourist-class BP International located in the shopping area of Tsim Sha Tsui on the tip of Kowloon Peninsula. It's possible to upgrade to standard, superior, and deluxe accommodations, which range all the way up to $2,089 in cost. The low price is also calculated based on either Los Angeles or San Francisco departures, but you can depart from other cities, such as Chicago or Atlanta for an additional $520, New York or Newark from $220, and Seattle from $280.
