This week's smart deal comes just at the right time -- before it gets too hot and crowded to travel to the Mediterranean. If you are interested in a trip to Greece that takes some of the guesswork out of the traveling to the islands and covers some of your logistical issues, the one from European Destinations (tel. 877/267-2247; www.europeandestinations.com) is worth considering. The company advertises the special from $1,129 for Athens, Santorini and Mykonos; taxes add on an additional $50. The itinerary puts travelers in each of the three locations for two nights apiece, and includes roundtrip airfare, ferry service between islands, daily breakfast (if hotel provides it), hotel taxes and service charges. With their white stucco buildings and deep blue waters, the islands of Santorini, forged from volcanic activity and Mykonos, part of the Cyclades Islands, are perennially popular destinations. Travelers have the ability to customize the number of nights spent in each destinations, but keep in mind that the price is will likely change if that's the route you pick.
The price posted reflects travel from New York City for the month of May, but departures from Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston and Miami are also posted for slightly more -- although not much more than about $200. These low prices are based on double occupancy and midweek departures. You'll fly into Mykonos and out of Athens, spend two nights in Mykonos, take the ferry to Santorini, and spend two nights there and take either a flight or a ferry to Athens. If for some reason you're interested in a slightly different itinerary, European Destintions has a few other offers to Greece that are worth considering; one of them, for May travel, includes Athens and Corfu from $1.049, and a ten-night trip that incorporates Athens, Crete, Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini, priced from $1,369.
