Let it Roll and Go For Broke in Nevada this Fall: Reno and Vegas Deals

It doesn't get any lower than this, in fact the taxi fares to and from the airport will probably cost more than this package. Southwest Vacations (tel. 800/243-8372; www.swavacations.com) is offering the lowest package rates to Las Vegas we've ever seen. Depart San Diego on a Monday and get round-trip airfare and two-nights accommodation at the Westward Ho Casino from $69 per person, and no -- that's not a typo. The same package from Kansas City is $209 per person. Valid departure dates are September 12 to October 3, October 17 to 24 and November 21 to December 12, 2005.

Packages from El Paso staying at New York-New York Hotel and Casino start at $234 per person or $299 from San Antonio. Valid for departures September 12 to October 3 and November 21 to December 12, 2005. Stay at the Mirage and your trip from Albuquerque will cost you $244 or $319 from Omaha on September 12, October 3, October 10 and Mondays from November 7 to December 12, 2005. Packages must be booked at least seven days prior to departure with taxes additional.

Vegas.com (tel. 800/851-1703; www.vegas.com) in association with Americawest Vacations is offering some incredible Las Vegas packages that include round-trip airfare and two-nights accommodation. Prices start as low as $150 from Los Angeles, $196 from Seattle, $210 from Denver, $259 from Boston and $285 from New York. Other departure cities are also available for additional cost. Prices based on mid-week departures and dual occupancy. Taxes additional.

4 Discount Travel (tel. 800/323-6347; www.4discounttravel.com) has a strip full of deals for longer stays in Sin City but the catch is you have to be quick and book by September 4, 2005. Enjoy four-nights at the four-star Luxor Las Vegas Hotel with round-trip airfare from only $280 per person from Milwaukee (for a September 5, 2005 departure only). The same deal on the same day is $360 from Chicago or $430 from Chicago a week later on September 12. From St Louis, the rate is $470 on October 3, 10, 17 or 23, 2005. All prices based on dual occupancy with taxes additional.

For a touch of glamour during your Vegas getaway, try United Vacations' (tel. 800/377-1816; www.unitedvacations.com) deal staying in a resort room at the new Wynn's Hotel. Prices start at $384 per person based on dual occupancy for a two-night mid-week package from Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego or Fresno. Add $80 from Seattle, $120 from Denver, $180 from Chicago or Detroit and $195 from Washington DC, New York or Boston. United is also featuring a number of last minute deals that include round-trip airfare and two-nights' accommodation for trips to be taken before September 26, 2005 (no travel on September 12). Prices start at $194 for departures from Fresno, San Francisco or San Diego.

Reno, known as "the biggest little city in the world" often remains in the shadow of its big brother Las Vegas. Whereas Vegas is renown for its glitz and glamour, the strip and 24-hour drive through wedding chapels, Reno retains it reputation as the quickie divorce capital of the US but actually has so much more to offer, including casinos, golf courses, world-class entertainment, luxurious resorts and its proximity to magnificent Lake Tahoe will all its associated outdoor activities.

Alaska Airlines Vacations (tel. 800/468-2248; www.vacations.alaskaair.com) is featuring a special "Reno Package" that includes hotel accommodation with taxes, airport transfers, 1,500 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan bonus miles and round-trip air travel on Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air. Prices start at $196 per person from Portland, staying at Circus Circus Reno, or $204 staying at the Silver Legacy Resort. From Los Angeles, the same deal is $157 and $164 for the same hotels and from Anchorage, the price starts at $432 and $439 respectively. Prices valid for midweek departures throughout September with taxes additional.

The Peppermill Resort (tel. 866/926-4653; www.peppermillreno.com), Reno's premier hotel-casino resort is offering a number of deals including its special "Golf Package." Starting from $75 per night per person for a midweek stay, the package includes one-night's accommodation with tax, a round of golf at Rosewood Lakes and Rosewood Lakes golf cart rental. Or for $159 per person, enjoy two nights' room with tax, a round of golf at Red Hawk, D'Andrea or Lakeridge courses plus one sleeve of golf balls per golfer. All packages are based on Sunday through Thursday night stays, excluding holidays and are available until September 29, 2005.

Orbitz (www.orbitz.com) has a Reno package that features round-trip airfare and three-nights' accommodation at the three-star Sands Regency hotel flying United Airlines from New York for $425 per person based on midweek departures in September or October and dual occupancy. Stay at the four-star Peppermill Resort instead for $428 or the Golden Phoenix Hotel and Casino for $453. From Miami, get round-trip airfare and three-nights' at Circus Circus from $408 per person, or $394 staying at The Peppermill. From Chicago, fly non-stop with American Airlines and stay for $334 at The Peppermill, $331 at Sands Regency and $348 at Circus Circus. All taxes and fees are included in these prices.

Siena Hotel Spa Casino (tel. 877/743-6233; www.sienareno.com) is featuring a number of all-weather packages for its guests. "Siena Golf Packages" start at $89 per person and include one-night's stay in a luxurious room including tax (Sunday-Thursday), around of golf with cart at Rosewood, Wildcreek, or Northgate courses and a $5 food coupon per person per stay.

Their midweek "Kayak Package" includes one-night's stay in a luxurious room including tax, kayak rental per person and a breakfast voucher for $59 per person or $84 with an additional midweek night's stay. The "Mayberry Run Package" includes one-night's stay in a luxurious room including tax, a Mayberry Run guided kayaking tour per person and a $5 breakfast voucher per person. Price $79 per person or $99 with an additional midweek night's stay. The "Siena Ski Package" starts at $69 per person and includes one-night's stay in a luxurious room including tax (Sunday-Thursday), one full day adult lift ticket per person to Mt. Rose (transportation not included) and a $5 food coupon. Weekend rates for these packages are $139 and $189 respectively.
