Louisville Makes Travel More Affordable Through Late Summer

Trying to get its fair share of domestic travelers this late spring and summer, the Greater Louisville Visitors Bureau has come up with a couple of packages that might interest you, and is extending a "Cityfull of Savings" promotion that was to have expired last March 31. If you take advantage of one or more of these, you could save big bucks.

Most fun, perhaps, is the Greatest Hits Package, which includes hotel accommodations and baseball tickets. Starting as low as $103, this two-day, one-night package gets you hotel lodging for up to four persons, four tickets to a Louisville Bat's game, four tickets to the Slugger Museum with customized Reds tour and four mini Louisville Slugger Reds logo bats. They also throw in four vouchers for free 16-oz. soft drinks at the baseball park.

You have to stay in one room, of course, the package costing $103 if you choose the Executive West or Hurstbourne hotels, $113 at the Galt House or Holiday Inn Hurstbourne, $114 at the Holiday Inn Downtown, $120 at the Hyatt Regency, $133 at the Seelbach Hilton, $143 at the Hampton Inn Airport or $153 at the Camberley Brown Hotel. All offers are, of course, subject to availability and taxes are not included in the prices. This deal expires September 2, 2002.

The Bats play at home from May 24-31, June 6-13, June 22-27, July 2-3, July 6-7, July 19-24, August 2-4, August 6, August 10-12, August 14-16, August 24-29 and September 1-2.

The second program, the Family Adventure Package, starts at $114, giving you one night lodging (up to four persons in a room), tickets to the Science Center & IMAX Theatre, the Zoo and the Slugger Museum. You can add a night for as low as a total of $269, with the previous three attractions, plus the Derby Museum (with 4 free gifts), the Speed Art Museum (plus 4 ArtSparks tickets) and the Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. The variety of hotels ranges from $114 to $169 for one night, and $269 to $369 for two nights. Taxes are not included and all offers are subject to availability. Offer expires October 31, 2002.

The extension of the Cityfull savings package through September 30 offers special discounts and buy-one-get-one-free offers when you book a hotel reservation through the visitors bureau.

To book your package and hotel or for more information, phone the Greater Louisville Visitors Bureau at 888/LOUISVILLE or visit their Web site, www.gotolouisville.com.
