When Globus, one of the world's premier tour operators, decided to try something a little different with its North American programs, it settled on things like sitting in on a Stella Adler acting school class, having cowboy breakfasts along the river near Canyonlands National Park, or staying at famous hotels that are destinations unto themselves, some of which can cost as little as $133 a day. That's the daily minimum price for a nine-day French Canada with Niagara Falls Open Door package, with departures from May through October and land-only prices ranging from $1,199 to $1,449.
To sweeten the attraction of two of the firm's packages, special two- and three-day free extensions apply. One is for Landmarks of the East vacations, an eight-day promotion with visits to Washington, D.C., Mt. Vernon, Williamsburg, Gettysburg and Philadelphia, as well as Yorktown, Monticello, Valley Forge and Amish country. If you book by January 31, 2002, you can get a free two-day extension in Washington, D.C. to explore the capital at leisure. Land-only prices for the eight-day tour range from $1,299 to $1,399, but if you add the extension, you have a 10-day vacation for that price. After January 31, you'll have to pay $1,549 to $1,649 for the 10-day sojourn. Departures are scheduled from April through October.
The second package with a free add-on is Great Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, which is a 10-day vacation costing (land-only) $2,799 to $2,999. For bookings made by January 31, 2003, you get a free two free days in Vancouver. After that date, the 12-day vacation with land-only prices is $2,999 to $3,199. Departures are scheduled from June through September.
Other remarkable packages include the 12-day Pacific Coast Adventure, from San Francisco to Seattle and Portland, from $2,399 to $2,449, May through September; Best of Western Canada, 12 days from May through September, land-only prices from $1,749 to $1,949; a nine-day California Coast Vacation from April through October, prices from $1,899 to $2,049; and Routes of the West, departures from May through September, prices from $1,949 to $2,099.
