Smart Deal of the Week: Five Nights in Cairo Plus Airfare from $899

Airlines are seriously starting to step up their vacation offers. Air France Holidays has joined the gang with this five-night deal to Cairo.

If the past two weeks of Smart Deals are any indication, it seems that airlines are seriously starting to step up their vacation offers. Air France Holidays (tel. 800/2-FRANCE; www.airfrance-holidays.com) has bundled airfare, five nights of accommodations, hotel taxes and service charges, 24-hour customer service help, and buffet breakfast daily. Airport taxes and fees are not included, but the fuel surcharge is included in the package price, which starts from $899 based on travel from New York to Cairo, Egypt. When you arrive, you'll also be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel (and back, when it's time to leave).

The lowest advertised price is valid for travel from either New York-JFK or Newark, New Jersey, for travel May 1-17 and July 31-October 24. Departures are also available starting April 22 from $1,199 and through the rest of the year. The price also reflects double occupancy at the standard-rated President Hotel in the Zamalek district, close to many cafes and restaurants. Or you can upgrade to the Golden Tulip Hotel, which has a view of the Nile River and is located in the Heliopolis district, priced from $1,049. To get even closer to the attractions, stay at the InterContinental Pyramids Park, which is close to the Great Sphinx, the Giza Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum and the Citadel and is also priced from $1,049.

Departures from other cities are available for an additional price of $240 for Boston, $430 for Los Angeles, and $670 for Denver, for example. You must book by April 16.
