I think it's more important than ever to gather in person, especially when the reason is to share a topic you love. When you can look someone in the eyes as they speak, pepper them with questions, and give your own take... well, that never feels old-fashioned, does it? It just feels real.
It's one of the reasons I'm so excited for this upcoming slate of Travel & Adventure Shows, where I will be appearing nationwide. I've created a brand new presentation with lots of updated advice on travel that I think you'll enjoy and find useful.
But what I'm really looking forward to is speaking to my fellow travelers before and after my session. You will find me hanging out in the on-site bookstore all day, signing books and chatting with wanderers. So come by and say hello!
I'm also excited to see the other wonderful experts who grace the stages of these shows. This year, for the first time, the list includes Phil Rosenthal of the quirky, charming Netflix series Somebody Feed Phil.
Other speakers will include the erudite and entertaining Peter Greenberg, '80s movie heartthrob-turned-excellent travel writer Andrew McCarthy, Patricia Schultz (author of 1000 Places to See Before You Die), and other travel superstars.
The stages aren't the only places at these shows were you'll meet real travel experts. There will also be folks at dozens of booths giving you the inside scoop on countless world destinations, cruise lines, safari operators, tour companies, and travel advisors. Sometimes, there are darn good discounts to be had that you can only access in person at these shows, so keep your eyes peeled.
Here's the schedule for the shows I'll be a part of, which always take place on Saturdays and Sundays:
