Following up on the success of the Travel Writing Workshops he has presented in Key West since 1991 and in Hudson, NY since last year, our own Bob Fisher is holding a similar seminar just two hours up the Hudson River from New York City this June. Under the auspices of Space 360, a conference center in the charming town of Hudson, Bob will have his workshop up and running on June 19 and 20, limited to just 14 students. The tuition is $275 and you make your own travel and accommodation reservations. Go to the website, www.travelwritingworkshop.org, for the details.
Whether you intend to make writing about travel your fulltime profession or just want to improve your twittering, blogging or memoirs, you should check this out. The theme is "How to shape your writing and then market it successfully."
Bob is currently a columnist and contributing editor at Frommers.com, where he also blogs three times weekly on travel health and safety, one of his specialties. Before this gig, he was editor-in-chief at Fodor guidebooks, general editor of the Crown Insider guides and creator of the 24-title Fisher Annotated Travel Guide series. Professionally, he is a former president of the Society of American Travel Writers and of the New York Travel Writers Association and is a trustee of the SATW Foundation, which awards annual prizes for outstanding travel writing. You can learn more about him at the workshop website or at www.bobharu.com.
Whatever season you choose to visit, you'll find the Upper Hudson Valley dressed for the occasion. Blessed with magnificent natural beauty, the area makes a visit seem like stepping into a living picture postcard. The perfect place to refresh your spirits, it is also the right venue to excite your imagination. Scenic drives lead to charming towns and villages, each with its own unique architecture and historical heritage. In addition to having all sorts of sporting activities, it's replete with cultural events and is an all-day kind of place for antique hunting.
You can register on the website, www.travelwritingworkshop.org, or contact the organizers at info@360warren.com. You can also contact Bob directly about the curriculum at his personal email, bobharu@aol.com.
The workshop is sponsored by Tripatini (www.tripatini.com), the social network where travelers get the inside scoop from the travel experts.
