In Mexico, the American dollar stretches a little better, getting you more bang for your vacation buck. Plus, the climate there is far less oppressive than almost any sweltering urban center in the U.S. especially when you are sitting on the cool waters of the Caribbean enjoying the mild breeze. With tour operators offering specials and old favorites coming down in price to accommodate the summer traveler in search of bargains, Cancun is an easy on the wallet, no slouch of a summer vacation.
Vacation Mart (tel. 800/288-1435; www.vacmart.com) has air and hotel combos to Cancun starting below $500. A three-night trip to Cancun from Miami with accommodations at the beachfront Carisa Y Palma, a modern condo resort with 122 units, starts at $306. A five-night trip from Miami goes for $381, while a seven-night trip starts at $456. Travel for these trips are good through December 15, 2005 when booked by August 31. Prices from other U.S. gateways for the three-day trip include $425 from New York, $384 from Philadelphia and $422 from Dallas. Every room at the Carisa Y Palma has water views and a small terrace from which you can catch the sunsets. The rooms are also equipped with a small kitchenette.
Vacation Mart has plenty of other Cancun deals as well, such as a three-night package with stays at the all-inclusive Oasis Playa, a great big resort with a gigantic pool and plenty of beachfront property. Outbound departures are through August. Sample prices from a variety of gateways include:

The agency has a seven-night air and hotel package with stays at the Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun costing approximately $795 per person out of Kansas City before taxes and fees. The same trip costs $865 out of Baltimore, $815 out of Philadelphia, and $739 out of Miami. Also included is a $100 per couple credit good towards use at the hotel's full-service spa or a nearby golf course. You need to book this trip by October 30, 2005 with travel good from August 14 to December 31, 2005. Like Vacation Mart, Liberty has many other specials to Cancun with lodging at a variety of resorts and hotels ranging form large-scale to quiet and romantic.
Another large-scale tour provider with outstanding deals to all their destinations, Pleasant Holidays (tel. 800/742-9244; www.pleasantholidays.com) has several deals to the Mexican playground. A four-nigh/t five-day combo with accommodations at the quiet and quaint Ambiance Villas at Kin Ha costs approximately $699 for round-trip air out of LAX, your hotel and all airport transfers. The hotel's landscaping gives a secluded feel yet the property is in walking distance to lively restaurants and shops. Most of the rooms are suites. A new golf course is also close to the beachfront property. Travel for this deal is good through August 17, 2005 with Wednesday and Sunday departures.
Security taxes and departure fees for all flights pertaining to the above deals are not included in the price of the vacation package.
