Michelle Stigleman (whose husband, Randy, is a paraplegic) and Deborah Van Brunt wrote the guide after more than four years of researching the entire state. They avoid using the terms "disabled" and "handicapped," preferring the phrase "people using canes, walkers and wheelchairs."
