Exotic discounter Sunny Land Tours is offering an eight-day beach experience in Costa Rica that simultaneously benefits Costa Rican children. The vacation starts at just $799, including air. The kids benefit because a portion of your payment goes automatically to its Adopt-a School program. To date, more than 10,000 children have received special education on bio-diversity through this program.

The $799 cost is for midweek travel from Miami, a 2.5-hour flight. Departures from New York's JFK are priced at $899, from Los Angeles $999, the flight from each of those cities a short 5 1/2 hours. Children under 12 get a $300 discount, and the supplement for weekend flights is $30 each way. Sunny Land Tours says these prices are about 40% lower than usual. The offer runs through October 31, 2002.

This special is per person, double occupancy, and includes roundtrip air on Lacsa Airlines, roundtrip airport transfers, two nights at the deluxe Herradura Hotel in San Jose, with daily breakfast, then a roundtrip air-conditioned shuttle to and from Guanacaste, where the most famous beaches in the country are located.

Once at the beach, the tour price includes a five-night all-inclusive stay at the Occidental Allegro Papagayo Beach Resort, and a donation to Adopt-a-School Program. As a reminder, all-inclusive means your room, meals, drinks, snacks, sports and entertainment are covered by the upfront price.

Costa Rica is a safe and politically stable country, well known for its benevolent attitude toward the protection of wildlife and native flora. These prices do not include airport taxes and security charges of $54, and a 15% fee covering local government taxes and service charges.
