How Now, Curacao: All-Inclusive Resort Serves Up $111-a-Day Adventure Package

Curacao, that orange-flavored liqueur so bright blue it makes your drinks look more like Windex than the potent potable you ordered from the bar, is aptly named after the bitter oranges that grow on this tropical island surrounded by bright blue waters. Sunset Waters Beach Resort wants you to sample both with its six-night/seven-day "Seize the Bay" getaway package starting at $775 now through December mid December.

The resort, situated on the Curacao's northwest coast--the Gold Coast--known for it's sheltered, sunny beaches and calm waters, features 70 rooms, restaurants, swimming pool, mini golf course, tennis court, a dive center and a spa onsite. For this price tag, you get access to all these amenities, plus three meals a day and unlimited drinks-the standard for most all-inclusives. But they've thrown in a lot of extras to get you out onto the island and into the waters to explore high and low. First, you get a rental car for two days, hiking guides and trail maps, and entrance fees to Christoffel National Park, 4,500 acres of protected land and gardens chock full o' giant cacti, rare orchids, brightly colored iguanas, the Curacao deer, wild goats and flocks and flocks of birds. You can also rent bikes, go horseback riding and explore sea-carved caves if you like.

Secondly, they've added little extras touches like bottles of sunscreen, insect repellant, bottled water and power bars to keep you healthy, hydrated and energized during your active pursuits. They'll even pack you a picnic lunch to take along for your day.

The price is per person based on double occupancy in a standard room with views of the pool and gardens. Upgrades to ocean views are available. For information and reservations, call toll-free 866/5SUNSET or visit the Web site, www.sunsetwaters.com.
