Kids Stay Free, Rates Go Low, at Breezes Curacao

The Dutch island of Curacao is a fine place for beach activities and water sports (think snorkeling, for instance), and it's also a gaming destination (think casinos). It seems an artificial place, half European and half touristy, more like Cancun in Mexico, less like the majority of Caribbean islands to its east in the Windward and Leeward chains. But appeal it has aplenty, and now Breezes Curacao is ensuring more visitors by offering per person nightly rates of only $94, all-inclusive, plus the kids stay gratis.

You have to book by September 30, 2002, but you can travel through December 15, and you need to stay a minimum of four nights. Children aged 13 and under can stay, play and eat for free (one for each paying adult) from now through the end of October.

The all-inclusive prices include accommodation, all meals (including snacks), beverages (including hard liquor), land and water sports activities (including equipment and instruction on a 1,500-foot stretch of white sand) and entertainment. And with no tipping allowed.

The resorts' Kid's Center has comprehensive activities and age-specific programs, including arts & crafts, a kids-only swimming pool, a playground and a teen center, all open from 9 to 5 daily. There are "SuperNannies" to take charge of babysitting after hours, for an additional fee.

Breezes Curacao has a professional circus workshop and the island's first ice-skating rink, as well as a 30-foot rock-climbing wall. Resort facilities include three swimming pools, whirlpools, three restaurants, two beach grills, a nightclub, casino, fitness center and tennis courts. Each of the 339 rooms and suites has air-conditioning, patio or balcony, satellite television, direct dial phone, iron & ironing board, coffee maker, hair dryer and in-room safe.

Breezes is one of four brands operated by SuperClubs; Grand Lido Resorts, Hedonism Resorts and a Cuban offshoot, SuperClubs Puntarena make up the rest of the family. For more information, contact them at 800/GO SUPER (same as 800/467-8737) or visit their Web site, www.superclubs.com.
