Nothing's Bora-boring about the South Pacific

September 8, 2004 -- Palm trees waving in a gentle ocean breeze, warm, crystal-clear water, and pristine white sandy beaches -- sound like paradise? Sure, but you won't have to go further than the South Pacific to discover this Garden of Eden.

Valid for travel from January 1 through April 30, 2005 is an "Escape to Paradise," with prices starting at $1399 that includes roundtrip air from Los Angeles to Papeete, then Air Tahiti Inter to Bora Bora, five nights in air-conditioned garden room there, daily breakfast and nightly dinner. US airport security tax and all room and sale taxes are also included.

Three other five-night packages include air and the amenities mentioned above. They are the "Bora Bora Explorer Package" from $1959; the "Re-ignite The Spark of the Island of Love" from $1799; and a "Romantic Getaway Package," starting at $2455. Travel expiration dates vary from October 31, 2004 through April 5, 2005.

Diving Deals

Tahiti Nui Travel ( or phone them in Tahiti at 689/54 06 72) has several diving packages good throughout 2004. Prices are for land only and start at $1130 for seven nights on Moorea, at $1225 for seven nights at Raiatea-Taha'a, and seven nights on Rangiroa from $1457. They say they will help you find the best airline fares to add to your land-only package.

South Seas Adventures

If you go to the South Seas Adventures website (; 800/576-7327), you'll find several specials. These range from $1200 for land-only stays at selected Fiji resorts, to higher-priced deals that include airfare. One higher-priced stay is at the Qamea Resort & Spa in Fiji, where you pay for six nights, and stay for seven, from $3120 per person, valid through December 31, 2004.
