For the 8th time, the CTO has published its free, comprehensive guidebook (128 pages), hoping that it will help ensure you make a visit to that part of the world sometime this year (the sooner, the better, they believe). There are updated facts and figures, new photographs, the latest in Web site listings and addresses, and much more, all designed to get you really interested in the Caribbean as a tourist destination.
In addition to articles about the region's history, there are pieces on family vacations, on golf, tennis and other sports, on carnivals and festivals, as well as water sports and shopping. The 34 members of the CTO range from the Bahamas to Mexico, from the Virgin Islands to Venezuela, with even Cuba and Bermuda included. (Yes, we know Bermuda is hardly a Caribbean island, but, then, neither are the Bahamas.)
The editors at Gold Book Publishing have rearranged the book so that countries are now segmented by language, cultural heritage and geography. The planner therefore becomes more like the consumer publications modern readers are accustomed to, instead of being simply an old-fashioned directory.
For a free copy, phone 800/356-9999, ext. 199. You can download the whole book from the CTO's Web site, www.doitcaribbean.com, or order a free copy by clicking on the CVP icon on the site's home page.
