Just in time for the Survivor: Thailand premier, that exotic tour packager, Djoser, has assembled two exciting and active journeys to this former Kingdom of Siam this fall and winter for an unbelievably low rate of just under $100 per day. And, they're knocking an additional fifty bucks off the complete package for January and February departures.
We've told you about Djoser's exploration of Mexico and even a little further back about safaris to Kenya and treks through Vietnam. And the upcoming sojourns to Thailand and, if you choose, it's veiled and secretive neighbor, Cambodia, are about as thrilling as a package tour can get.
For $1,395 (less $50 equals $1,345), you fly out of LAX on KLM/Northwest into Bangkok where you will spend time exploring the city either with a tour-guide or on your own. From there you'll make your way along the River Kwai, visit the indigenous Hill Tribes, and go to Chiang Mai, where you'll have the choice of embarking on a two-day fairly rigorous trek involving hiking, rafting and elephant riding--or you can stay in Chiang Mai to explore the modern elements that Thailand has to offer. Finally, you'll end up in on the island of Koh Samed, a relaxing alternative to the bustle of Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Departures out of NYC are $1,445 before the $50 discount.
If you have a little more time, you can opt for the 22-day package that includes all of the Thailand experience and throws in five days touring little seen Cambodia. Highlights include the fantastic and ancient architecture of Cambodia's Wats (Buddhist temples) and a tour of Phnom Penh. The extended Thai/Cambodian packages run $1,945 out of LAX, $1,995 out of NYC--still under $100 a day! Departures are available out of other U.S. cities as well.
Single supplements are $225 for the 16-day tour, $375 for the 22-day tour. Djoser will try to match you with a companion if you request it, but if they are unable to do so, they will cut your single supplement in half, so it's definitely worth it to ask.
