July 21, 2003 -- Just about everyone loves warm weather and the beach, no matter the season, and if luxury is also an important factor in your planning, take heart, places like the ultra-posh The Breakers in Palm Beach have a relative bargain for you. The longer you stay, the lower the price per night, with room rates starting at $189 per night, but dipping to $169 if you stay three nights, then to $149 for five nights or more. From 31% off the regular rates for the first night, you graduate to 46% off for five nights or more-now that's movin' on up!

Those are the prices for a standard superior room at The Breakers, but the same length-of-stay discount applies to the premium rooms, too. A full oceanfront room at $340 a night goes down to $304 per night for a three-night stay, then to $268 per night for a five-night sojourn. Moreover, some of The Breakers' famed amenities are free, such as free golf (not the cart, though) on the resort's two courses (because one is never enough), free tennis, and free spa fitness classes. The offer is good from now through September 3, 2003 and is subject to availability. Children 16 and under stay free with parents in room. Also, if you stay at least five nights, you get a one-category room upgrade, free of charge.

The Breakers has been one of the world's most famous luxury resorts for decades and with good reason. It features eight restaurants, four bars, 36 holes of golf, ten tennis courts, a beach club, four Oceanside pools and an expanded private beach. There is also a new family entertainment center and a kids' camp.

For more information and to book, phone them at 888/BREAKERS (US and Canada) or contact them at www.thebreakers.com.

Not far away is an even better bargain -- a Summer Camp for Stylish Adults at The Colony Hotel, also in Palm Beach. The cost for two persons per night is $139, which includes full English breakfasts. The minimum stay is two nights, and extensions are available for as long as you desire. The Colony is a little gem, going quietly along for the past 50 years, with 85 guest rooms, penthouses, villa and suites. It also boasts that its Royal Room is "the only cabaret venue in Florida."

Available at "nominal cost" are such active pursuits as a self-guided bike tour, croquet lessons and matches, or golf. If you're feeling a bit more decadent, The Colony also offers a champagne limo tour of Palm Beach celebrity spots, a casino ocean cruise, and "perfect martini" lessons. "Camp" is in session from now through October 31, 2003.
