High on any list of the South's most beautiful gardens is Callaway, in Pine Mountain Georgia, which is adding to its allure this year by running a Summer Celebration Special. From now through August 28, 2002, you can relax in their charming Mountain Creek Inn for just $99 per room, per night. In addition to the lodging, you get free admission to The Gardens at Callaway, use of the fitness center, a daily newspaper, in-room coffee and free phone access charges for local, toll free or credit card calls.
To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Callaway is offering guests at the Inn a Gardens B&B Package, through August 20, 2002. You get 50% off recreational activities, such as hourly bicycle rentals, tennis court fees, tennis equipment rentals, fly-casting lessons, canoe rentals, skeet/trap/5-stand clay shooting, and more.
During August, they have a Kids Eat Free package, in which you get family accommodations at the Inn, a buffet breakfast and buffet dinner, daily use of the fitness center, admission to The Gardens and to Robin Lake Beach, all for $159 per room per night, from August 1 through 28, 2002.
Note that taxes and tips are extra, and that the offer is based on availability. Other restrictions may apply.
On the premises is a discovery center, with (through August) an exhibit of raptor specimens (eagle, hawks and the like). There's also a butterfly center, a horticultural center and a vegetable garden. The facility also has a 10-mile bike trail, and rentals are available if you don't bring your own.
There's a freshwater beach on Robin Lake, where the Florida State University's Flying High Circus performs (except on Wednesdays), or you can rent paddleboats, take miniature train rides, go swimming, enjoy mini golf and more, all included with the admission price.
Callaway is located in Pine Mountain, one hour southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus in Georgia. For more information, contact them at 800/CALLAWAY (same as 800/225-5292) or visit their Web site, www.callawaygardens.com.
