April 25, 2003 -- Even though spring is here -- when prices rise with the temperatures -- Petrabax continues to offer budget packages to Spain. You read in this Newsletter about the outfit's amazing winter deal of six days in Madrid starting from a mere $499. Well, they don't disappoint with a new air/hotel combo to the Costa del Sol for early spring and late summer travel. Yes, the cost is more than the off off season of late winter, but not by much. The lowest base price starts from only $659 a head.

You'll get roundtrip airfare on Spanair subsidiary Air Plus Comet from New York's JFK to Malaga (Picasso's birthplace), with six nights at the four-star Las Piramides in Fuengirole, one of the Costa del Sol's resort towns. Flights depart from New York every Friday from now through June 13, 2003, and again in September and October. The rates between June 14 and August 31 go up to $729. (Even at that price, it's still within a budget traveler's means.) Prices are per person based on double occupancy. Add-on fares from other US airports are, of course, available on request. The base price does not include airport taxes and fees and hotel taxes.

If you want something a bit different, consider their package to Madrid, starting at $769, with similar dates but transportation on US Airways, which has daily departures to the capital of Spain. Taxes at the four-star Hotel Convencion or similar first-class establishment are additional, as is breakfast.

Petrabax is also hoping you'll take interest in their Spain Fiesta package, which combines Madrid with the Andalusian cities of Seville, Cordoba and Granada, priced from $1,129 including airfare, first-class hotels, sightseeing, some meals and more. This is an escorted eight days and six nights with two nights each in Madrid and Seville, and one night each in Granada and on the Costa del Sol. Also included in the price: daily buffet breakfast, three other meals, four escorted city sightseeing tours, roundtrip airport/hotel transfers, hotel service charges and taxes. Dates are the same as for tours above, with the June 14-August 31 tours costing only $100 more. US airport taxes and fees amount to about $85 in addition to prices mentioned above.
