Europe on the Cheap Continues through June, But You Have to Buy Soon

April 9 -- If you're even optimistic about war jitters ending soon or are just plain ready to head off to Europe, then we have some deals for you.

Go-Today, that enterprising outfit located in the Seattle suburbs near Microsoftland, continues with its six-night package to London starting from as low as $399 for your roundtrip airfare out of New York, hotel and daily breakfast. It's offered for only a short time -- you must buy by April 14 -- but travel is good all the way through June 15, 2003. All hotel taxes and service charges are included. Other gateways are available at additional and incremental cost. For this deal, go online to www.gotoday.com/UK_FGLZ.asp.

In addition to this London Super Deal (as they're calling it), Go-Today has similar six-nighters to other European cities. Prices listed are out of New York and include:

  • Amsterdam from $699
  • Barcelona from $899
  • Berlin from $569
  • Brussels from $459
  • Dublin from $549
  • Lisbon from $639
  • Nice from $669
  • Paris from $519
  • Rome from $699
  • Vienna from $659

All prices above are per person based on double occupancy and do not include airline departure tax or surcharges, which run from $109 and up. Prices also reflect midweek departures; weekend departures cost more. Space is limited and subject to availability. You can book online at www.gotoday.com or, for an extra $20, by calling 425/487-9632.

[A similar--and even cheaper--deal to London is also being offered by the Internet-only OffPeakTraveler.com. Read our earlier piece comparing OffPeak's and Go-Today's deals by clicking here.]

France Vacations has some nice deals, too. While you would expect a company with France in its name to offer worthwhile vacations to...France, they've also pried opened new venues to neighboring Spain and other European kin. We know, it's not in the name, but these packages undercut even the prices Go-Today is offering in some instances. Their lowest-priced five-night package is, not surprisingly, for Paris starting from $539, but other packages are as low as $629 to London, $709 to Madrid, $739 to Barcelona, $859 to Rome, $1,079 to Florence and $1,089 to Venice.

Each combo includes roundtrip air on United Airlines or Lufthansa and a five-night hotel stay. You must book by April 30, 2003 and travel by June 15, 2003, or travel later on from September 1 to October 31, 2003. Prices are per person, double occupancy, and are based on midweek departures. Add $25 each way for weekend flights. Airport taxes and fees are not included. You can upgrade your hotel for an additional charge.

Departures are available from every US gateway serving United Airlines. To Spain, for instance, you pay $759 to Madrid out of Washington, D.C., $789 to Barcelona. Out of Boston or Philadelphia, you pay $769 to Madrid, $809 to Barcelona. Out of Chicago, you pay $839 to Madrid, $879 to Barcelona. From Houston, it's $899 to Madrid, $929 to Barcelona. From Seattle or Phoenix, it's $959 to Madrid, $989 to Barcelona, and so forth.

Vacations in Spain include daily breakfast and city tax at the hotel.

For more information and details, phone France Vacations at 800/332-5332 or go to the website, www.francevacations.net. Please note that at press time, information on the packages to Spain was not online so you'll have to call about those.
