May 19, 2003 -- Trafalgar Tours, a long-established tour operator specializing in Europe, has teamed up with leading airlines to offer "Europe for a Buck". This is a $1 companion airfare on vacations to 14 different European destinations, in which the first passenger pays Trafalgar's land-air brochure price, and the companion pays the land-only brochure price, plus $1 for the roundtrip airfare from all US gateways for American, United, Lufthansa and Austrian airlines.
The offer is valid on new bookings only through June 6, 2003, and is for travel now through October 31, 2003. The 14 destination vacations are Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Frankfurt, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, Rome, Shannon, Vienna and Zurich. Furthermore, the tour operator says, the offer can be combined with other discounts in Trafalgar's brochures. Government fees and taxes are additional, though.

- Irish Highlights: Eight days and seven nights in Dublin, Waterford, Kenmare and Limerick; air-land price for two is $2,886 from Portland, Oregon (saving $1,384), $2,261 for two from New York (saving $759).
- Spanish Discovery: Ten days and nine nights in Madrid, Granada, Costa del Sol and Seville; air-land price for two is $2,986 from Portland, Oregon (saving $1,284), $2,602 for two from New York (saving $899).
- Italian Holiday: Eight days and seven nights in Rome, Venice, Italian Lakes (Baveno) and Florence; air-land price for two is $3,165 from Portland, Oregon (saving $1,365), $2,750 for two from New York (saving $950).
